On March 21, 2018 at 1120 a.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 report of a vehicle completely submerged upside down in a creek on Sand Ridge Rd just west of Custar Rd.  Units from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and Weston Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene, it was not known if the vehicle was occupied.  JR’s Towing and Wrights Tire and Auto were also dispatched to assist with recovery of the vehicle.  When units arrived on scene, it was determined that additional resources were needed, so Grand Rapids Fire along with Toledo Fire’s dive team was also dispatched to the scene. Once the recovery was under way, it was found that the vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was occupied by two males.

The driver was identified as 17 year old Xavier M Wensink and the passenger, his 14 year old brother, Aidan A Wensink both from Deshler, Ohio.

At this time this is crash is still under investigation.
