Courthouse Complex Deputy

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Part-time Courthouse Complex Deputy. The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:

• Ability to work part-time/flexible hours
• Ohio Peace Officer certified
• Preserve the peace within the courthouse complex, grounds and Public Defender’s Office
• Assist Court Constables as needed
• Scan and check community members and employees entering the courthouse complex as well as check all packages and handbags.
• Assist visitors entering the facility
• Ability to communicate directions to those unfamiliar with the Courthouse Complex
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift packages
• Assist with tours and other special functions as requested
• Polite, Courteous, and Friendly personality
• Ability to get along with elected officials, county employees, and community members
• Perform law enforcement functions as needed
• Must be able to maintain certifications by attending and passing all annual recertification courses
• Valid Driver’s License

The position is a part-time, classified, non-exempt position with a starting wage of $18.16/hr. Part-time employees working less than 30 hrs/wk are not eligible for benefits. Credit will be given to Wood County employees currently employed as County Constables for time in County service.
