Digital Danger – Location Services

WNWO Toledo: Keeping track of your kids is not an easy task in this digital age, but predators can keep tabs on your child’s every move if a feature on their phone is left on.  Capt. Scott Frank, from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, says the location services feature on most phones can collect data that most would not want made public.

Several websites then post the information, collected through the location services feature, which can show exactly were you are while on social media.

The location services feature does, however, serve a  purpose and can help law enforcement officials or parents in the event of an emergency.

If parents would like to leave the feature on, for that purpose, Frank says the location services option has to be turned off for each app on user’s phone.

A phone’s location services option can usually be found under setting and then under privacy.
